John Dorsey signing free agent, running back Kareem Hunt:

"My relationship and interaction with Kareem since 2016 at the university was an important part of this decision-making process, but then we did extensive due diligence with many people, including clinical professionals, to have a better understanding of the person who is today and if it was prudent to sign it in. There were two important factors: one is that Kareem took full responsibility for his atrocious acts and showed real remorse and, secondly, the most important thing is that he is experiencing and is committed to the necessary professional treatment and a plan that has been clearly established. "

"We understand and respect the complexity of the questions and problems when signing a player with Kareem's story and we do not approve of his actions." Taking into account what we know about Kareem through our extensive research, we believe he deserves a second chance, but certainly with the understanding that he has to go through critical and essential steps to become an active member of this organization, apart from what the NFL determines from his ongoing research. We fully understand that Kareem is subject to the discipline of The NFL Here in the Browns, there is a detailed plan with established expectations that he understands and must follow, because no similar incident will be tolerated. "We will support Kareem through this process and use our resources, however, we will allow it, to help you succeed on and off the field, as long as you continue to show the commitment necessary to represent this or ganization ".

Kareem Hunt signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns:

"First of all, I would like to apologize once again for my actions last year. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. That's not the man I was raised to be, and I've learned a lot from that experience and, of course, I should have been more honest about it. I am extremely grateful that John Dorsey, Dee and Jimmy Haslam and the Cleveland Browns organization give me the opportunity to earn their trust and represent their organization in the best way possible on and off the field. I promise to follow the necessary steps to learn and be a better and healthier person in this situation. I also understand the expectations that the Browns have clearly established and that I have to go back to the NFL. I am a work in progress as a person, but I am committed to taking advantage of the support systems I have to become the best and healthiest version of myself. "
