LOS ANGELES — Broadcom, the semiconductor agency identified for making radio chips for the iPhone, is shifting its authorized headquarters to the United States.
President Trump introduced the transfer at a White House discussion board with Broadcom CEO Hock Tan Thursday.
“Thanks to you, Mr. President, business conditions have steadily improved,” Tan stated. “We are making America home again.”
Broadcom Limited says it’ll legally relocate to Delaware, bringing $20 billion in annual income to the U.S. The White House, which made the announcement after Republicans launched their overhaul of the tax plan, says that is the biggest such transfer to the U.S. in a long time.
“We will invest over $3 billion in research and engineering, and $6 billion in manufacturing, creating many high-paying jobs,” Tan stated.
Broadcom already operates co-corporate headquarters in San Jose, Calif. and Singapore, the results of a $37 billion takeover by Singapore-based Avago Technologies of San Jose-based Broadcom final yr.
