Building on recent experiences of operating in a new environment, Disney has rescheduled the holidays with current health and safety measures while maintaining the joy and magic of the season. That being said, the holiday experiences that draw large crowds will sadly happen this year, namely the Mikkies Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and the Candlelight Procession at EPCOT.
From 6 November – December. 30 Guests will be able to enjoy festive decorations, themed merchandise, seasonal food and drink offerings and entertainment at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Holiday Magic at the four theme parks and Disney Springs will be fully implemented and Santa Claus will make time for special pop-up appearances at each location, wishing everyone a holiday and praising them.
Guests will be delighted by the festive floatillas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, holiday walks at EPCOT, and Mira’s Motorcycle at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Character Cavalcades will take on a special Holiday Twist at Magic Kingdom Park, featuring Christmas friends at their Holiday Fest with the best tableaux. The Cavalcades will feature Gingerbread Men, Elves and Reinders. In addition, the beloved Toy Soldiers will join the Main Street Philharmonic as they march through Magic Kingdom Park, providing a musical break for all to hear.
Minnie Mouse will host a yuletide gathering in Hollywood for all her friends and will begin at Disney’s Hollywood Studio on November 9. 6. Santa Goofy will be there, along with Minnie and his holiday best.
Shifting gears at Disney Springs, guests will discover Christmas around every corner as they come across a collection of ornate Disney Christmas trees spread across this retail, food and entertainment destination. In the evening, guests arriving within the Town Center, West Side and The Landing will encounter a magical snowfall, adding an extra touch of surprise to their holiday shopping. And to cap it off, Jock Lindsay will once again transform its hangar bar into festive favorites at Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar with delightful holiday decorations and a delicious limited-time menu.
Disney Resort Hotels will also be prepared for the holidays, with iconic trees and other festive flowers in their lobby. Keep in mind that our gingerbread displays will not return to resort hotels this year. When we know that they are the favorites of people taking vacation decor, we are not able to include those displays due to physical distancing guidelines.
On November 27, a few days after the season, Disney will “celebrate highlights from the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays”. The Holiday Kitchen World Showcase will return to the promenade, with dishes such as American Holiday Table Stuffing with Favorite Stove-Roasted Turkey and Cheese Fondue in the Bread Bowl at Bavaria Holiday Kitchen. How many will return and if the ongoing taste of the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival will see the event.
Guests will be invited to step inside the World Showplay to enjoy the returning group, JOYFUL !, which presents a journey through R&B, gospel, contemporary and traditional Christmas and holiday music. In addition, The Voice of Liberty will bring its incredible 8-part harmonies to the America’s Gardens Theater Stage, featuring a special concert featuring favorite carols and songs of the season.
So, what do you think about the unique holiday lineup at Walt Disney World in 2020?
