Biden Kovid Advisor Challenges Cuomo’s Letter to Buy Vaccines Directly

Members of the advisory board for President-Elect Joe Biden Kovid, Drs. Celine Gounder gave the slogan as a reaction to the Trump administration’s crumbling Kovid, as some states across the US needed them to receive vaccine supplements.

“I think we already have a lot of reaction to the patchwork in the states,” the gounder said in an interview Monday evening in “The News with Shepard Smith”.

At a coronovirus briefing on Friday, New York government Andrew Kyomo said the federal government was sending 50,000 fewer doses of the vaccine than the week to its state. The state was receiving low doses as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expanded the vaccine’s eligibility to anyone 65 years of age to 12 years old.

On Monday, Cuomo sent a letter to Pfizer asking if New York State could buy the vaccine directly from the company. Last week, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made a similar request to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.

The gounder told host Shepard Smith that this approach could cause more problems than it solved.

“I think, Governor Cuomo, himself said back in the spring that the situation around the ventilator was essentially ‘a big eBay’ with all states bidding against each other for the ventilator, and me Such an approach to vaccine allocation seems to have resulted, apparently, in a similar situation when he, himself, was criticized last spring, ”Gounder said.

Data from the CDC shows that the US averages about 900,000 vaccinations per day. During an interview with Fox News, Azar cited the CDC number and criticized the Biden administration’s target of 100 million shots of weapons in the first 100 days.

“We will have delivered 250 million doses of the vaccine by the end of April.” “If they had only vaccinated 100 million by then, it would be a sad agony of the opportunity that we have.”

Gounder, an epidemiologist at NYU, accepted Azar’s statement that delivery did not mean actual injections of the vaccine.

“We’ve seen, though, that one, delivery is so different from getting shots in arms, that the last mile of delivery is actually the hardest part here,” Gounder explained. “Secondly, we are yet to confirm that the number of those numbers, which is the 250 million number that he is quoting there, is actually going to pan out.”

In a separate letter to Azar, Cuomo blasted him for “confusing” the public about the vaccine stockpiles. Azar admitted on Friday that there are currently no reserves.

Biden’s mentor Drs. Michael Osterholm warned that Kovid’s worst epidemic is yet to come, and the data support his dire prediction. According to Johns Hopkins University data, the US is rapidly approaching 400,000 deaths in the epidemic. This is roughly equivalent to one in 822 Americans. For 19 consecutive days, according to the Kovid Tracking Project, at least 23,000 people have been in ICUs in the US due to Kovid. HHS reported that about 80% of ICU beds are in nationwide possession.

The gounder said that the US is at “our fifth peak right now” and all about “layering protection” will be to avoid each other for the next few months.

“We really want to double up on things like masking and social distancing, rather than in well-ventilated places indoors,” the gounder warned. “If we do those things, then, yes, this may be our last peak, but it really depends on each of us what we must do to bring back normal life.”
