Beta updates for OnePlus 5 and 5T Add Project Treble Support

OnePlus has announced that it will extend Project Treble support to its previous flagship devices, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The confirmation of this came through a publication in the forum of OnePlus announcing a new beta version for the two devices: OxygenOS Open Beta 13 for OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 11 for OnePlus 5T. Although, what seems to be clearly the main feature of the two beta updates, is Project Treble support.

This is something that is already offered with the newest OnePlus 6, so it represents an example of OnePlus that seeks to offer the same features to owners of their previous devices. In addition, this is considered a fairly important function update. Add that the only purpose of Project Treble is to accelerate the time it takes for Android smartphones to get their updates. To achieve this, Project Treble basically breaks down the update so that those involved, manufacturers and smart phone partners, can directly update only their part. In other words, it applies a modular approach to the update that allows the main aspect focused on the user to begin to unfold earlier than it would otherwise. In this case, the assumption would be that OnePlus 5 and 5T owners should expect faster updates in the future. Of course, it is worth taking into account that, at this moment, OnePlus has only announced the function as part of a beta program launch and, therefore, the new compatibility will only be available to users who sign up for the version beta at the moment. Also, this does not necessarily mean that the support will reach the final version of OxygenOS that most OnePlus 5 and 5T owners enjoy, although the obvious expectation is that it will be widely available once it has gone through the beta process. It's just that there are no guarantees.

Apart from Project Treble, OnePlus also claimed that the new beta compilations for the two devices also include " a new user interface " designed to improve the overall user experience. Although OnePlus still has to really explain what design changes are included and what users can expect.
