Belkin and Uponor partner for the Phyn Plus water monitoring system

Belkin International and Uponor partnered to create Phyn Plus, an intelligent water monitoring system.

Phyn, a joint venture between industry giants Belkin International and Uponor is optimizing the use of water in the home with Phyn Plus, intelligent water assistant and closure system. Phyn Plus is designed to protect families and homes from leakage damage with unrivaled accuracy and reliability.

Phyn's water detection technology combines Belkin's Wemo and Linksys platforms and advanced machine learning with pressure sensor technology to provide a water detection system with intelligent features.

Phyn Plus measures micro changes in pressure at a rate of 240 times per second. Next, use this data to know the unique signatures of each of your home accessories and to detect plumbing problems that range from leakage of pores to dripping of faucets or frozen pipes. Phyn Plus uses algorithms to analyze this data, as well as pressure, flow and temperature sensor data to create a complete picture of your home's plumbing system.

Once Phyn Plus has been professionally installed through the Uponor Pro Squad, a national network of trained plumbers and water specialists, you will begin to learn about your personal water system. Phyn continues to learn over time, and when you notice a change in the normal use of water, you will receive an alert through the mobile application. If there is a major leak, such as a pipe explosion, Phyn can automatically disconnect the water with a built-in shut-off valve.

Prices and Availability

Phyn Plus will be available for purchase beginning in the late spring for $ 850. International plans have not yet been announced, but the price of $ 850 becomes approximately £ 626 and AU $ 1,084.

Installation costs will vary by market and, at launch, Phyn Plus will be available in the markets with the highest prevalence of leaks and water consumption, including: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas / Fort Worth, San Francisco, Washington DC, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Toronto, Minneapolis and others.
