Nintendo has announced that Bayonetta 3 is in exclusive development for Nintendo Switch. The revelation occurred during The Game Awards, when Reggie Fils-Aime appeared on stage and introduced a small preview. The video showed the main character, Bayonetta, using his emblematic double-pistol pistols firing bullets in the distance.
During the sequence, an incredibly fast, purple ghostly creature attacks Bayonetta, who is struggling to keep up with that. The two face off against each other, but suddenly Bayonetta disappears and it seems that his body dissolves, letting his pistols fall to the ground. Watch the previous trailer. It is not clear what exactly the new game will be, but it is an exciting revelation, however, given the critical acclaim of its predecessors.
Like the previous two entries in the series, Bayonetta 3 is being developed by Platinum Games. Nintendo will publish the title, just as it did for the second game of the series. The Game Awards had more surprises for Bayonetta fans in the form of Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 reboots for Switch. You can get more information about the two Bayonetta reboots for Switch here. That will be released in early 2018; there is still no release date for Bayonetta 3.
