Baylor, Houston schedule last minute 3 weeks game after losing to both teams concern COVID-19

If the 2020 college football season has taught us anything, it is that the games can be scheduled at the last minute. This is the case with Baylor and Houston, who both needed a replacement game after losing opponents. The Bears and Cougars announced on Saturday that they would play at Mecklen Stadium in Waco, Texas on September 19.

This marks a quick one-week change for both sides as they try to put together as close to a full season as possible. Baylor scheduled a nonconfidence game for Week 2 against Louisiana Tech, but was postponed indefinitely following a COVID-19 outbreak within the Bulldogs program. The make-up date for that game was proving difficult, and Boiler had another open weekend (Sept. 19) before the conference games began on Sept 26.

“Our student-athletes and staff are excited for the opportunity,” boiler coach Dave Aranda said. “I am really happy for my players. I have known coaches.” [Dana] For a long time Holgorsen and I have known many coaches on our staff. I know they will be ready. I am grateful for the opportunity to compete for my players and we look forward to facing a good Houston team. ”

Likewise, Houston’s Week 3 game against Memphis was officially postponed to Saturday. The game was on the ropes after the Tigers stopped practices and other athletic-related activities following their Week 1 game against Arkansas State amid a co-19 outbreak. The Cougars would play an eight-game conference schedule but were allowed to add four additional non-conference games.
