Baker Mayfield has done about the face.
In June insisting that the Browns’ quarterback, and reiterating in August that he would kneel for the national anthem, had announced via social media that he would stand.
“After watching Thursday’s game and also watching the Dolphins player [sic] The video, “Mayfield said,” shows that it is not about who is standing or who is kneeling for the anthem. But instead, come together and take action to create real change. After reading many letters and messages over the last few weeks… I have been shown that a gesture like kneeling will only create more division or discussion about gestures, rather than solutions to our nation’s problems. With that being said, I am choosing to stand up for both antems to show respect, love and unity to join it.
He said, ‘I will respect all my colleagues. We have had a meaningful discussion on what the right change looks like and this change carries with us all. My heart is more emotional than it was months ago, due to the fact that we are no closer to the country that our country needs. I love this country, but these challenges and adversities are an opportunity for much needed change for issues that have been going on for a very long time. It is going to come down to how we handle adverse situations and take advantage of our opportunities.
“Now I am posting this so this is not a discussion on Sports Day. And so the discussion can continue on how to make our country better instead of dividing us. Our team is ready to fight for our goals both on and off the field. ”
In June, Mayfield said on social media that he would “absolutely” kneel for the anthem. In August, she doubled.
“I have no regrets,” Mayfield said. “Right is right, and wrong is wrong. It is nothing against the army. Anyone who knows me knows that I fully support the military. It is a human rights issue. ”
Each player has the right to decide on the issue and change his decision. He also has the right to speak his mind on this or any subject. This is one of the benefits of the platform.
If some don’t want to hear it, they don’t have to listen. This is a better and more appropriate way than asking players to shut up and play.
