A pedestrian was hit on a trail in Beenleigh, investigating the police.

A woman is in a critical condition after being hit by a car on a trail this morning south of Brisbane.

At around 4.45 am this morning, the 60-year-old woman was walking along the road along Milne Street in Beenleigh when the car allegedly left the road and hit her.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said the woman suffered a "major head injury" and was transferred to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

media_cameraThe woman was beaten on Milne Street, near Honeyman Street in Beenleigh.

The male driver was not injured and is believed to be talking to the police.

Sgt. Linda Smith said it was too early to say how or why the man left the road.

Sgt. Smith said the Accident Forensics Unit is now investigating the case and remained on the scene this morning.

"Any witness or anyone with dashcam images should go to the Accident Forensic Unit at Springwood Station," he said.
