MediaTek today unveiled the system on chip (SoC by System On Chip) MediaTek Helio P60, the first SoC platform to feature a multi-core processing unit IA (mobile APU) and NeuroPilot AI technology. MediaTek
Its mix of Arm Cortex A73 and A53 processors delivers up to 70% increase in CPU performance above Helium P23 and Helio P30, plus 70% improvement in GPU performance. Manufactured using the new 12nm FinFET technology, Helio P60 from MediaTek offers incredible energy efficiency to increase device battery life.
The MediaTek Helio P60 features four Arm A73 2.0 GHz processors and four Arm A53 processors. 2.0 GHz in a eight-core big.LITTLE configuration. The SoC is manufactured under the TSMC 12 nm production process and is the most efficient MediaTek SoC in the Helio P series to date.
Compared to the previous generation, it is up to 12 percent more efficient in general and up to 25 percent more energy efficient in highly demanding games, so that consumers can play on their device for longer.
Managed by MediaPek's CorePilot 4.0 technology, with thermal management, user experience monitoring and EAS (Energy Aware Scheduling), the chipset optimizes processor performance and energy conservation for a sustainable user experience even along the most intensive computing tasks.
MediaTek Helio P60 brings MediaTek's IA NeuroPilot technology to the center of smartphones. Its AI computing architecture works seamlessly and throughout the CPU, GPU and Mobile APU within the SoC, to maximize performance and efficiency in the use of energy.
With twice the energy efficiency of a GPU solution, the MediaTek Helio P60 multi-core provides energy management efficiency at a higher level, as well as a top-level performance of 280GMAC / s. The NeuroPilot SDK on the MediaTek P60 is compatible with the Google Android API Neural Networks (Android NNAPI), and also supports common AI structures, including TensorFlow, TF Lite, Caffe and Caffe2. This makes it easier for developers to offer innovative AI applications to the market in a very fast way.
As an Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX) partner, MediaTek is working to support the chipset in the second quarter of 2018 in order to offer developers even more flexibility to design IA-based applications.
Compared to the previous Helio P series, the three MediaTek Helium P60 image signal processors (ISPs) increase their energy efficiency by using 18 percent less power for dual camera configurations.
By combining the incredible camera technology of the Helio P60 with its powerful Mobile APU, users can enjoy AI-ready experiences in applications with real-time beautification, novel real-time overlays, AR / MR acceleration, enhancement of photographs, previews of video in real time and more.
Helio P60 of MediaTek also includes a modem 4G LTE WorldMode, double 4G VoLTE and TAS 2.0 smart antenna technology that provides consumers with perfect global connectivity. With its finely tuned balance of power and performance, the MediaTek Helio P60 will allow device manufacturers to bring to the market mid-range smartphones that are more capable, smarter and more reliable.
Smartphones based on the Helio chipset MediaTek's P60 will be available globally beginning early in the second quarter of 2018. For more details on our new chipsets, visit MediaTek Helio P60
