Apple’s Marina Bay Sands store opens in Singapore on Thursday

Apple announced today that its new Marina Bay Sands retail store in Singapore will open at 10:00 am Thursday, with Apple calling it the company’s “most ambitious retail project”.

The Marina Bay Sands shop appears to be floating on Marina Bay and its all-glass dome is a type of construction assembled using 114 pieces.

Inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, an oculus at the top of the dome provides a flood ray of light that travels through space. The glass interiors are lined with custom baffles, each shaped to counter sun angles and provide nighttime lighting effects. With the lining of trees in the dome interiors, the City of Singapore’s Green Garden flows into the store, providing additional shade and a soft shade.

The store, which will be collectively spoken in 23 languages by 148 employees, includes not only the general product display area and the anchoring of the massive video wall The Forum, but Apple’s first underwater for business meetings, training and private events The boardroom is also included.

Apple Marina Bay Sands is the company’s third retail store in Singapore, and early days travel will only be from reservations made through the store web page.
