Apple releases second public beta of iOS 14.2 with new emoji and more

Following the release of the second developer beta yesterday, Apple has today released the second public beta of iOS 14.2. The update includes new emoji options for users, as well as tweaks for Control Center and more.

In iOS 14.2, the control is now being replayed on the lock screen with the redesigned AirPlay 2 control in the control center. One of the new changes in iOS 14.2 is a new brand Shazam toggle that can be added to the control center.

The highlight of iOS 14.2 Public Beta 2 are the new emoji. These emojis were approved as part of Emoji 13.0 released by the Unicode Consortium earlier this year. In particular, with iOS 14 this year it is easier than usual to find new emoji. One of the new features in iOS 14 is the ability to search for a collection of emoji characters.

In total, 117 new emoji are coming out this year for iPhone, iPad and Mac users, with various skin tone options, new gender-inclusive options, and more. New emoji options in iOS 14.2 beta 2 include bubble tea, a transgender flag, seals, feathers, and more.

You can update iOS 14.2 beta 2 by going to the Settings app, selecting Software Update, and installing the available update. If you do not see it immediately, keep checking because it may take a few minutes to hit your device.
