AppHealthCare report first death related to COVID-19 in Watauga County

Boone, NC – AppHealthCare is first reporting COVID-19 deaths in Watauga County.

There have been three deaths and all were residents of Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation. These individuals died on 6–9 September and after review by the medical provider, the deaths were attributed to COVID-19. The patients were in their 70s and 80s and had underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information about these individuals will be released.

Any additional COVID-19 deaths due to Watauga County will be reported on the dashboard of our website.

We at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation are continuing to closely monitor and react to the ongoing outbreak. We continue to partner with them to provide public health recommendations and guidance to implement infection control practices, conduct routine testing, and separate protocols for people who are positive and quarantine for close contact .

How to protect yourself

Wear a cloth covering your nose and mouth

Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer

· Wait at least 6 feet from others

Stay home when you’re sick

Keep distance from people who are ill

Avoid touching your face

Avoid crowded areas

· Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces in common areas such as doorknobs, remotes, lightservices, tables and handles.

Symptoms of covidan 19

Symptoms may appear 2–14 days after exposure. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people with COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms. Contains:

Fever or chills

· cough

Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing


Muscle or body ache

· head ache

New loss of taste or smell

· Sore throat

Congestion or runny nose

Inverse or nausea
