Anti-smoking unit recovers ₹ 21,700


In a campaign against smoking in public places and the illegal sale of tobacco, the Delhi Department of Health raided about 100 stores in Saket and issued challans worth $ 21,700 to vendors and individuals.

The raid was conducted on Thursday by State Tobacco Control Cell teams in collaboration with the Delhi Police to crack down on direct and indirect advertising and illicit trade in tobacco products.

Arora said that young people, especially school students, are attracted to tobacco due to direct and indirect advertising of tobacco products.

Said, apart from brand promotion, the tobacco industry targets youth through advertisements misleading using terms such as thin, ultra-thin and safe cigarettes, ISO-certified nicotine and tar, flavored cigarettes, sweets and electronic cigarettes as smoking cessation devices, etc.

"All these are myths It is important to sensitize young people about the harmful effects of tobacco and control such tobacco industry promotion practices. Around 100 stores were raided and challanes were issued for ₹ 21, 700 to sellers and individuals, "he said.
