Everything seemed fine for Anthony Davis, as soon as he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in June. He joined the team he wanted to play for and instantly became a title contender with his arrival, there was no better scenario for him.
One of the best news he could get was that LeBron James said he should turn in his No. 23 to the Brow, but that does not seem to be happening this season. Davis used the 23 throughout his career, and the King planned to return to number 6 so AD can keep his number, but that gesture will have to wait another season.
According to Yahoo Sports, the T-shirt change will not take place next season because the application was submitted after the deadline of March 15, which was too late for Nike to give the green light. Of course, AD was hoping to continue using his number at the Staples Center, but now he will be wearing the No. 3 shirt, as he used to do in High School.
He had the opportunity to talk about his decision to use No. 3 and how he felt when Nike rejected the request to change his number.
"That was quite painful, they sent me a list of numbers and I did not know which one to choose, none of them looked good, so I followed 2.K. and put all the numbers in me.
Although he will not wear his regular number, Davis is willing to take the Lakers to the top spots next season, no matter what digit he has on his back. While he and LeBron James give the Lakers a new title, their number really will not matter to the fans.
