Anheuser-Busch interrupts and desists to create brewers: using a crier

Anheuser-Busch InBev, one of the largest breweries in the world, is not considered so kindly by artisbad brewers.

That's maybe why the company chose to be creative when they issued a cease and desist at a small brewery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Minnesota brewery, called Modist Brewing Company, had been selling a double IPA called "Dilly Dilly": a hit in the recent Bud Light campaign in which medieval monarchs provide while they pronounce (the copyrighted phrase ) "dilly dilly" in unison.

AB InBev kept the subject with its message to Modist; Instead of sending a traditional letter using the strength of its arsenal of lawyers, AB InBev sent a single, but very effective municipal town crier to break the news.

"We are duly flattered by your faithful tribute, however, Dilly Dilly is the motto of our kingdom and for that we humbly ask you to keep this in a limited edition, only once," the town crier shouted as he read the text of a parchment "Disobedience will be met with additional scrolls, then a formal warning and, finally, a private visit to the Pit of Misery, send us a raven, a letter or an email to inform us that you accept this request"

. Modist's attorney, Jeff O & # 39; Brien, told the local Star Tribune that he thought AB InBev was handling what could have been an unpleasant situation in a "funny way".

"There are so many beer names and beer names out there, and try to solve it without suing each other," he said. "They did it in a fun way and they protected their brand, I thought it was a great way to handle it."

In addition, for their problems, AB InBev gave the brewery two tickets to the next Super Bowl, which takes place in Minneapolis this February.

According to Takeout, Modist already changed the name of the beer to Coat Tails, but hung the roll on the wall.
