AMD Threadripper Pro Workstation CPUs and WRX80 Motherboards Officially Released for the DIY Market

If anyone needs a 64-core, 128-thread processor for a workstation task, AMD has announced that its Threadripper Pro desktop processors and WRX80 motherboards are now available to buy in the DIY segment.

AMD Threadripper PRO CPUs and WRX80 motherboards feature 8-channel DDR4 ECC memory and support up to 2TB and 128 PCIe Gen 4 lanes

The AMD Threadripper PRO series advances in all categories and outperforms the competition in most areas. It has 128 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes which is double compared to the normal Threadripper series in 64 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes. The most delightful feature for most is the 8-channel ECC support with a maximum capacity of 2TB (UDIMM, RDIMM, LRDIMM). The TDP for all four processors is set at 280W.

The star of the show is AMD Threadripper PRO 3995WX with 64 cores and 128 threads along with 288 MB of total cache. Clock speeds are respectable at a base 2.7 GHz and a 4.2 GHz boost. Second in the ranking is the Threadripper PRO 3975WX with 32 cores and 64 threads. The clocks are 3.5 GHz base and 4.2 GHz boost and it has 144 MB of total cache. The Threadripper PRO 3955WX ranks third in line with 16 cores and 32 threads with 72MB of total cache. Clock speeds are 3.9 GHz base and 4.3 GHz boost.
