As if finding out that buying the PS5 wasn’t such a difficult task, with so little stock, some UK buyers of Sony’s next-gen consoles ended up in a situation where their console never arrived.
Various Amazon UK customers received shipments of random items including cat food, while others received nothing. To compensate them, Amazon has now announced that affected customers can re-order the console by contacting customer service.
Initially, Amazon returned customers who did not receive their PS5, or offered them various amounts of credit for it. Under normal circumstances that wouldn’t be so bad, but given how hard it is to get a PS5, many people were not happy. Apparently, affected customers wanted the console without having to redo the fight against bots (and other humans) to get one.
Amazon had indicated that it would be possible to get a new console from customer service at the time, but this has now been confirmed. This is great news for those who had a PS5 stolen at their home, although the best thing is that they should be able to get a replacement within 14 days of ordering. Provided PS5s do not mysteriously disappear again.
While you might think that sending the new console out automatically would be simple, there are other factors to consider. The first is that refunds have already been processed, and Amazon requires customer permission before charging again.
Unfortunately UK customers are not the only ones dealing with a lost or stolen PS5. Various Reddit and Twitter posts confirm that goods have been delivered to customers in the US and Canada that they have failed to materialize after being delivered.
This does not just affect Amazon customers. It appears that a suspiciously high number of Reddit posts have mentioned that FedEx lost PS5s in transit, accusing it of not taking enough care in the investigation.
FedEx is definitely accountable to these lost / stolen PS5 and Xbox r / FedEx
While we can’t see any reports of customers receiving an air fryer (which has terrible graphics by the way) like the person in the tweet below, the problem of missing PS5 consoles is clearly a widespread one that worsens with excessive demand has made it.

Happy # PS5 day to all. Tried to try for our unveiling, but Amazon has tricked us (after giving delivery password) with an unwanted air fryer instead. Anyone else had this problem today? pic.twitter.com/99IUSzSJUU19 November 2020
Unfortunately, Amazon UK is only honoring this pledge if customers confirm they want the PS5 by the end of the day, 5 December. Amazon customers in other regions may also ask the same, as it is all one big company.
For those who have purchased from other retailers, your best bet is to maintain customer service and hope that they will be organized a replacement. We would suggest this to you as soon as possible, and pray that your PS5 actually arrives at this time.
Investigations into the events of Amazon UK are still ongoing.
