Motorcyclist opens fire by taxi, killing one, seriously injuring another



A motorcyclist opened fire on a taxi at William Nicol Drive near Sandton, killing one passenger and seriously injuring another on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the taxi, which had three passengers and a driver inside, was traveling on the busy road when the motorcycle that was traveling behind them opened fire.

Police spokeswoman Sergeant Juliet Mogale said a passenger in the back seat was shot and killed while another passenger, who was sitting in front of the vehicle, was also shot. [19659002] The driver and the third passenger were not injured in the shooting, but were traumatized by the ordeal they had experienced, he said.

The motorcyclist is still a fugitive, and a case has been opened at the Sandton police station.

Netcare 911 paramedics said one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a nearby hospital.
