Adams Company officials rescued animals from ‘hoarding case’

Adams County, Ohio – More than a dozen animals were rescued by what Adams County officials are calling a “waving case.”

Authorities with the Adams County Dog Warden said the animals, including dogs and chickens, were found in a mobile home over the weekend after the mobile home owner died. Once the dog warden found out the animals, he called the Humane Society for help.

Jessica Huxman with the Humus Society of Adams County said the smell of ammonia and urine made it nearly impossible for first responders to breathe indoors.

Inside the house, garbage was dumped about five feet high, with some animals standing between eight and 12 inches, which officials believe is newspaper and feces, and three malnourished Chihuahua roam freely. Outside the house, three sick puppies were found.

Many animals are going to the veterinarians on Monday to catch hold of their shots and assess their overall health. Regardless of their living conditions, dogs are said to be friendly to many people.

Huxman said that humanity provides support to pet owners to prevent such situations.

“There are organizations that can help,” Huxman said. “We offer free food for those who are struggling to feed a pet. If they need to reheat a pet, there are organizations like ours that help pets Can. “
