Accused in a murder case who had joined the BJP, ran to see the police

Chennai: In six murder cases, the accused was on his way to join the BJP and ran after the police. He tried to join the party in the presence of BJP Tamil Nadu branch president L Murugan. He went on stage to join the party, spotted the police officers there and fled.

According to Tamil Nadu police, Surya is accused in a total of 35 cases, including six murder cases. He tried to join the BJP. Police went there on information that he would be participating in a BJP program. Surya fled in a car after noticing police surrounded the venue.

A case has been registered against Surya under Section 41 of the CRPC. He is likely to be arrested without a warrant. Four Surya followers have already been arrested by the police.

On this, BJP state unit president Murugan said he was not aware of the background of those who wanted to join the party.
