A game of space takes the best part of the elite: dangerous in virtual reality

AGOS: A Game of SpaceAnnounced today, during a pre-emblem for the Ubisoft Forward Streaming Event, is a new Spacefare game custom built for virtual reality. You can watch the full two-minute trailer above and on YouTube. The game will launch on October 28 for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Valve Index devices.

“Players condemned will become the AI operating the last ship to leave Earth,” Ubisoft said in a news release Thursday, “guiding a group of survivors in eight unique stellar systems to find a new home . “

Set in the year 2057, the game creates a future where humanity is forced to leave its birthplace in search of new horizons. Oddly enough, the players are not part of the pawn. In fact, they are turning the lights off past, as it were. This is equivalent to burning ships in Troy. There is no going back, it seems, and the only way forward.

Tools that players have available are small, twin-probe ones. Players are tasked with raising resources to keep their crew on the way and feed water, using Apollo-style thrusters to change their attitude in space. The investigation can be heavily modified, and the game featured various mining and repair scenarios.

The trailer seems at a glance as if the best part of something is Elite: Dangerous. Players will need to dig deep into spinning rocks, through massed wire-spread township weapons, and dock themselves inside small ports.
