55-year-old nursing home worker dies in front of COVID-19 – Mississippi’s best community newspaper

NATCHEZ – An employee of the Adams County Nursing Home with COVID-19 has died.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said the 55-year-old man died Tuesday at Merritt Health Natchez.

The person was not named to protect the privacy of the family.

“He was hospitalized for about a week before his death,” Lee said. “This virus is very real and we need to take every precaution necessary to stop the spread. Personally, I have a 25 year old granddaughter on ventilator because of COVID. My child is struggling for his life. COVID does not know race or age. My heart is still broken and I am very sensitive to this epidemic. Let’s do the right thing Natchez. ”

The Mississippi State Health Department reported 505 new COVID-19 cases and 28 new deaths on Tuesday.

Adams County has a total of COVID-19 cases 877 and COVID-19 total deaths of 32, the outbreak, MSDH reports.

Mississippi’s total confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases now number 90,523 with 2,734 deaths.

According to MSDH, the number of Mississippi is the lowest, with 524 confirmed positive patients currently hospitalized and 143 suspected positive patients in the past two weeks.

The data also shows that 177 COVID-19 patients are in ICUs, with 88 patients on ventilators.
