4 countries warn Israel against annexation of Palestinian territories

The video conference was held as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently reflected on the extension of his country’s supervision over parts of the West Bank containing Jewish settlements, deliberations that have angered the Palestinian side.

Instead, the four foreign ministers offered their help in finding “a constructive new beginning” in the region, adding that they would not recognize any changes to the 1967 borders unless both parties to the conflict agreed.

Netanyahu spoke with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the matter on Monday night.

“Israel is prepared to conduct negotiations on the basis of President Trump’s peace plan, which is creative and realistic and will not return to the failed formulas of the past,” the Israeli government said in a statement.
