Sunlove of thrones It may not have been done by showing the evolution of Daenerys Targaryen as she fights, burns and plans her way to the Iron Throne in Season 8. Is it possible that Daenerys has to go in a previously unthinkable direction to make sure she gets what she needs? she needs? wants? A new epic fan theory published in Medium states that Daenerys is about to channel an aspect of herself that we have never seen before.
Spoilers for game of Thrones Season 8 (and maybe the end of the series) ahead.
game of Thrones the fans have seen the show slowly pushing Daenerys towards madness, as it happened with her father, the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen. Season 7 showed minor fractures in his relationship with his Hand, Tyrion, as well as Varys. More frustration came with a failed invasion in Casterly Rock and the devastating loss of one of his dragons, Viserion.
Season 8 has pushed Dany into an even more desperate situation, with almost all of her army killed during the Battle of Winterfell, a serious threat to her claim to the Iron Throne in the form of her nephew lover Jon Snow, a relationship that gets worse slowly with Tyrion. and the deaths of Jorah, Missandei, Rhaegal and most of the Dothraki. If there was ever time for Dany to crack under the weight of these losses or to regenerate itself (or something) stronger, more durable and more capable of eliminating any threat that stands in its way, now would be the time.

Enter Ryan Caldwell, whose recent post by Medium entertains the idea that Dany is literally a dragon and that game of Thrones he has been insinuating it since season 1. Caldwell argues that it is not chance. Daenerys is one of the few Targaryens who has a supernatural connection with dragons and has shown abilities similar to those of dragons, including fire resistance. As an opposite example, Dany's ancestor, Aerion Targaryen, tried to drink wild fire and transform into a dragon; It was not like he thought. Dany, on the other hand, has proven to be a skilled handler of her dragons and shots, so she'll probably fare better if Cersei tries to set off a forest fire during the Battle at the King's Landing.
The most convincing evidence to which Caldwell points out are two events that changed her life in Dany's past: the birth of her son with Khal Drogo and the final words of Missandei for her in Episode 4. These events represent key moments in Dany's life, where all the terrible crap that has happened to her climax with these terrible losses, and finally pushes her further towards acting as the ruthless and fearless leader that she is.
In season 1, we know that Dany has been living in exile and under the protection of his spooky FA brother, Viserys. She is married to Khal Drogo and after a pretty horrible honeymoon period, she finally gets pregnant and gives birth to a son. Except that the son is born dead and, according to the witch, Mirri Maz Duur, grotesque and almost inhuman.
Upon awakening from a difficult birth experience, Dany learns from Mirri that the baby that was born dead was "monstrous". Twisted. I pulled it out myself. It was climbed like a lizard. Blind, with leather wings, like the wings of a bat. When I touched it, its skin fell from its bones. Inside, it was full of worms.
Mirri attributes the deformities of Dany's son as the price paid for the blood magic performed to save Drogo's life. Instead, Caldwell argues that the appearance of Dany's son is the first sign of Dany-as-dragon, with his body literally creating a baby dragon even if he can not survive after birth.
At the end of the series, after losing his closest allies and advisors, Dany has to see how his best friend is beheaded by order of his enemy. Season 8, episode 4 ends with the death of Missandei, but before they kill her, her last words are simply "Dracarys". It is a message destined to Dany: "Burn everything".

It is a dark message for Dany, considering that his father was obsessed with the fulfillment of the messages that only he could hear when planting wildfire hiding places through the King's Landing. Will Dany succumb to his dragon nature (either metaphorically or literally) and reveal his true self, burning everything, including the throne he has fought so hard for, on the ground?
She has burned and looted important cities before (see Astapor and Meereen), so it is not entirely impossible. The vision of Season 2 of Dany in the House of the Dead also indicates that the Iron Throne and the Red Tower are likely to be destroyed and that she is the only person who does it. With Drogon still alive, Daenerys has the ability to burn everything on the ground, just as Missandei told her to do.
But what stands out in my mind is the implication in Caldwell's theory that Dany could possibly be shown to be a literal dragon. The existence of facial use skills of Melisandre and Arya has shown that changing shape is a possibility in game of Thrones. But the humans becoming real dragons? It sounds a bit implausible. It would also be a great narrative leap from Deux Ex Machina to reveal that Dany can suddenly transform into a dragon without any previous indication that she can physically transform.
Then, again, Dany's valiant ancestors were obsessive and practitioners of blood magic, something in which she also participated when working with Mirri. Is it possible that blood magic was used to transform Dany and put her on the road to show her true colors? Or is this savage Dany theory just a way to contemplate her journey through the show and possibly predict how it will all end for her?
In season 7, Olenna Tyrell encouraged Daenerys to follow her primary instincts in her quest to reclaim the throne, saying: "You are a dragon. Be a dragon It is doubtful that Olenna would have guessed that Dany was a dragon in human form, but matriarch Tyrell was always perceptive. Maybe she guessed something that Dany has known from the beginning and now we are discovering it.
