& # 39; Bohemian Rhapsody & # 39; finds new director after the dismissal of Bryan Singer – Variety

Fox has turned to Dexter Fletcher as the new director of "Bohemian Rhapsody" to replace the fired Bryan Singer.

Production will resume next week in London. Fletcher credits include "Eddie the Eagle," which Fox distributed, and "Wild Bill" along with acting credits in "Kick-Ass" and "Stardust."

The studio made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, two days after Singer under the "pay or play" clause of their contract. Fox did not explain in detail why he had fired Singer, but the sources said it was due to repeated failures to appear on the set.

The filming was made in London with "Mr. Robot" star Rami Malek in the lead role as Freddie Mercury, the leader of the queen. New Regency and GK Films are the producers.

Fox has not changed his plan to release "Bohemian Rhapsody" on December 25, 2018. Sources have said that there are about two weeks of recording left.

As a result of Singer's absences, director of photography Thomas Newton Sigel had to intervene to direct some of the days in which Singer had disappeared, according to Variety. In addition, Malek had complained about what he perceived as Singer's lack of professionalism.
