CITY OF TRAVERSE: the video file was too big to send to her mother by text message, so Raina Lagalo posted it on her Facebook page.

Overnight, the post accumulated close to 10,000 visits, said Dominic Lagalo, Raina's husband. Within a day, that number increased to one million, and it just kept going, he said.

The 34-second video shows Raina eating a burrito while holding Riva Rose Lagalo, the 4-month-old daughter, who repeatedly tries to bite mom's food.

"Her doctor said she could start thinking about introducing solid foods if she started showing some interest … could this qualify? #Getitgirl," Raina wrote in the post.

Six months later, only on January 13 accumulated more than 23 million visits, 131,500 reactions and 309,550 actions. That does not take into account those who have seen the video elsewhere online or in places like "Inside Edition" and "Good Morning America."

"It's hilarious and you can relate to all the mothers," Raina said. "It happened that we captured him, he personifies the hungry aspect".

It's amazing how many people have seen the video, said Dominic.

People recognize that Riva and Raina just walk down the street and some ask for pictures, he said.

While the responses are overwhelmingly positive, there are some "enemies," said the Traverse City couple.

Some people have "cried child abuse" or "need to be locked in cages," Dominic said.

In any case, they've learned that people care about a hungry baby, Raina said. Riva had just finished eating when the video was taken, he added.

The couple contacted a friend, Matt Gerwirtz, who runs The 4North Project, a non-profit organization that, in part, helps feed people in developing countries, to partner in a GoFundMe.

"If everyone who watched the video gave a dollar to feed hungry babies, we could do a lot of good there," Raina said.

Riva is a bundle of joy that overturned the couple's world from the beginning, said Dominic, who has two children from a previous marriage: Vincent, 13, and Owen, 15.

He said he and Raina are 42 and they were together for seven years when they started talking about having a baby. They ended up using in vitro fertilization to conceive Riva.

Now, at 10 months old, Riva is getting up, crawling and teething, Raina said. She is not a binge at all, she said.

The viral video experience has been positive, and humiliating, one in general, Dominic said.

"We would love to redirect from the negative to the positive," he added. "Take a second of your day to think of someone next to you. Take a second (and) make a change.

"If there is some kind of platform for which we can use our daughter, it's just to love and care about the person next to you."
