Genesis released some images of the updated G70 sedan on Tuesday, and I have to say it looks great. I know that Genesis’ large grille and quad-lamp lighting is not for everyone, but combined with some softer edges and the G70’s more beautiful package, I’m totally here for this refresh. Also, this update brings the G70 to its larger, And one mother’s kid.
The front fascia clearly showcases the G70’s biggest style update. In profile, the G70 is similar to the current car, with some new wheel designs that look almost too big for this compact sedan. From the rear, the G70 is a lot like its predecessor, though its chunky taillights are now split, bringing a quad-lamp signature around the butt of the car.
When going in, I’m all about purple leather upholstery, although the overall design of the G70’s cabin hasn’t changed much. One major improvement sits atop the dash: a new, 10.3-inch infotainment screen that according to the automaker “features a special Genesis UI design”. This new technology supports Wi-Fi as well as over-the-air updatesCompatibility, although the company has not eagerly mentioned – Something that is available in the current G70.
Genesis did not split any powertrain details when it released these photos on Tuesday, which could mean one of two things. On one hand, the current 2.0-liter Turbo I4 and 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engines can carry unchanged, as this is only a refresh. But on the other hand, the G70 could benefit from the new 2.5-liter turbo I4 engine – as found in it, A car with which Genesis shares a stage.
The updated G70 is expected to go on sale in South Korea in October before moving to other countries. Assuming the current G70 as existing 2021 model in the US, the new G70 will show the 2022 designation, meaning it should arrive sometime early next year.
