2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (Photo: FCA US)

The new 2018 Jeep Wrangler checks every frame on its fan list, and adds some that have not yet occurred to them.

It has more space, but a shorter turning radius – the key to the off road adventures of the enthusiasts and the parking maneuvers of all the others. The legendary SUV drag ratio, important for crawling through deep mud and support, increases from its already impressive 73: 1 to a ridiculous 84: 1. The soft roof is easier to remove and promises to be quieter on the road . available e.The fuel economy increases while the weight decreases, thanks in part to aluminum doors, front fenders and bonnet and a magnesium tailgate.

If that's not enough, a smooth hybrid powertrain combines a new high-performance turbocharged engine with 48-volt electrical power to improve performance and fuel economy. An eight-speed automatic transmission is available with all engines.

The 2018 Wrangler combines design elements that owners expect with features that other SUVs do not offer.

The doors have exposed hinges that have been a hallmark of the Wrangler and his ancestors Until the original 1941 Jeep built according to the specifications of the US Army. UU The windshield folds, another feature that Jeep loyalists expect.

Both hard and soft covers should be much easier to remove and reinstall than the rebellious cases with which Wrangler owners have struggled for decades. The soft roof ditches the despised zippers in favor of the plastic rails that fit into place. Jeep designers say that the hood will be less cushioned by the wind thanks to its new construction and new roll cage design.

The interior has armrests long enough for a person to use and a touch screen for navigation, audio and other systems.

The reliable 3.6L Jeep Pentastar V6 returns with the addition of stop-start to improve fuel economy. It develops 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Combined with the new transmission and lightweight materials, the EPA's V6 city and highway fuel economy rates are expected to increase 2 and 3 mpg per gallon to 20 and 23 mpg, respectively.

While the V6 is a known quantity, the all-new 2.0L turbo is great news. Generic name GMET4 for Global Midsize Engine Turbocharged four-cylinder, is from the same engine family as the exceptionally powerful engines that Ferrari helped develop for Alfa Romeo. It has been redesigned off-road and is now built at the FCA Trenton engine plant.

The 2.0L develops 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. An electric motor sends the torque directly to the axle for more off-road torque and to soften the engine's starting and stopping system.

The EPA has approved the sale of the FCA 3.0L diesel, but Jeep will not say exactly when in production on the new Wrangler. The V6 produces 260 horsepower and a whopping 442 foot-pounds of torque. The code name of 2018 Wrangler during the development was JL. You can tow up to 3,500 pounds and ford water 30 inches deep.

The clbadic-looking 2018 Wrangler amalgam with advanced technology for greater capacity, comfort and safety Jeep fans are likely to line up when the latest generation of Jeep legends reaches dealerships in early 2018.
