13-year-old boy killed in accidental shooting on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT According to authorities, a 13-year-old boy was killed Saturday in a Detroit home when a mishandled pistol was unloaded.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 pm at a house on Cheyenne Street, near Plymouth Road and the Schaefer Expressway.

Police said there were no adults home at the time of the shooting, but that another minor was home.

The boy was rushed to a hospital, where he died.

The investigation is ongoing.
