13 COVID-19 deaths were recorded in Escambia, Santa Rosa counties on Tuesday: NorthEscambia.com


There were 11 new COVID-19 deaths in Escambia County and two were reported by the Florida Department of Health on Tuesday in Santa Rosa County.

Escobia County deaths were of women ages 59, 66, 76, 82, 85, 86 and 92, and men ages 66, 70, 73 and 87. Five people were residents of long-term care facilities. Santa Rosa County reported the deaths of men between the ages of 76 and 86, one of whom was a resident of a long-term care facility.

Escombia County cases increased from 175 to 9,807. An additional 50 cases brought Santa Rosa County to a total of 4,013.

In Escamia County, 17.4% of the 795 tests returned on Monday were positive, and 18.7% were positive from 252 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 16.3% (a skewed increase by a large number of Century Jail inmates).

According to data from three local hospitals, 196 COVID-19 patients were currently hospitalized in Escambia County.

Of the 131 deaths in Escamia County, 71 are long-term care facility residents or employees. There have been 40 deaths in Santa Rosa County, of which at least seven have been in the Black Water River Corrective Facility and eight in one long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 542,792 cases including 536,981 Florida residents. There have been 31,354 hospital * and 8,553 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report many recovered individuals.
