The Facebook Messenger app has a surprising amount of hidden features. Here are 10 so you can start becoming an advanced user.
Create your own chatbot
You probably already know that you can talk to a Facebook chatbot, but you can also create your own … more or less.
If you have a Facebook page, go to page Settings (it's in the upper left corner of the desktop version) and select Messages . Next, go to Answer Wizard and click Send instant replies to anyone who sends messages to your page. Here you can configure what your bot will tell people when they send you a message, either through Messenger or on Facebook.
Create a shortcut
I receive dozens of Facebook messaging messages every day. Some of them are important, but with thousands of contacts, I sometimes forget who sent me the message. It is more likely that the message is lost in the sea of incoming messages.
To prevent this from happening, I found a way to mark your messages:
- Open Messenger
- Keep pressing the person's icon on the left side of the screen
- Touch Create shortcut That It's all about it. A direct access to the conversation you are having with that person will be added to your home screen. When the conversation ends, remove the shortcut in the same way that it would remove a shortcut to the application.
Or keep your friends close at hand
This is also a great way to keep your BFF on hand. Simply follow the steps above and an icon will be added to the home screen of your device so you can start a chat with your friend without even opening Messenger.
Make a short video
Instead of sending a photo, send a video. Just hold down the shutter button and record whatever your camera is pointing at. When finished, release the shutter button and touch the Send button. Your videos can last up to 15 seconds.
You can add a little more to your videos by using the filter, the font and the drawing tools at the top of the screen before pressing send.
Customize your chats
If a thumbs up is not your style, you can change your Like button to whatever you want. Enter a chat and touch the circle with an "i" in it. Then, touch option Emoji . A menu will appear with a variety of emojis that you can use instead of the standard thumbs up. Change it in each chat session so that the emoji fits the person you are sending messages to. For example, my daughter loves smiling poop, so that's her emoji in Messenger.
By clicking on the same circle, you can also access other options, such as changing the name of your chat friend by a silly nickname.
Whether you stay with the thumb emoji or choose something a little more personalized, you can also show the person you are sending a message how you feel in a big way. In the Messenger app, hold down the emoji and it will grow. When it's the size you want, lift your finger and the emojis will be sent.
Play a game and much more
If you're looking for something fun, tap the icon plus while you're in a conversation, then touch the game icon . You can choose to challenge your friend to dozens of games, and Messenger will even maintain the score so that both players can return to the game later.
The plus icon also takes you to options that can share your location, send money, share your calendar and more.
Share your Messenger code
Your Messenger has its own QR code that can be shared with others. Sharing the code will add you to your contact list. If you scan your code, it will also add it to yours.
Click on the icon Profile in the upper right corner of the main Messenger page in the application. Then touch the photo. The application will give you the option to scan another person's code or share yours.
To scan another person's code, touch Scan Code and hold your phone's camera over the other person's phone until your Messenger QR code is recognized. They will have to share their code while scanning to make it work.
Save photos automatically
To save photos automatically in the gallery of your device every time someone sends you a photo, click on Profile icon in the upper right corner of the main page of Messenger in the application. Then, tap Photos and media . Move the switch next to Save photos and all the photos will be saved in the gallery of your device.
Be careful, however. If you get a picture of a real eggplant or other naked pranks, it will be stored on your phone. Ewww.
You can also save your outgoing photos. Activate Save to capture to save the photos you take with Messenger in your gallery.
Search hidden message requests
When people you are not friends with send you a message, it is placed in a special folder. Sometimes, this can cause you to miss an important message because Messenger in the desktop version will not always warn you. To find the folder, click Messenger Icon and click Message Requests at the top of the drop-down menu when you are on Facebook.
If you are in the Messenger desktop application, click the gear icon on the left side of the screen and click Message Requests.
Have a secret conversation
Messenger has end-to-end encryption to keep most of your secret conversations secret. These conversations are called secret conversations. You can.
