1 win of Los Angeles Dodgers Game World Series attracts record-less viewers

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Los Angeles Dodgers’ win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 attracted a record-low audience of television viewers for the World Series game.

Nilsson Media Research reported on Wednesday that Los Angeles’ 8–3 win received a 5.1 rating and received an average of 9,195,000 viewers on Fox on EDT Tuesday night from 8:06 pm to 11:41 pm.

The previous series was set for only the second time in the World Series, when a 5–4 loss to Philadelphia in Game 3 in 2008 averaged 9,836,000 which was seen on October 25, Saturday night.

So far, the low for Game 1 was San Francisco’s 7–1 win over Kansas City on October 21, 2012, seen on Tuesday night at an average of 12,191,000.

Last year’s opener saw Washington’s 5-4 win over Houston on Tuesday, October 22, at an average of 12,283,000.

Nevertheless, Fox won the prime-time evening on Tuesday night with its best performance since Game 6 of last year’s World Series.

The rating is the percentage of television households ready for a broadcast.
